Micah and Alis' Big Fat Wedding Show

So, you've gotten our invitation and are scratching your heads and asking, “what's the deal?” This is our attempt to answer your questions.

The actual ceremony will be very short, very small, with immediate family only, the afternoon of June 4th.
The fun part is the party/ show that night.

We are doing things a little "outside of the box". Our basic idea is to have a great party, chock full of our favorite people, music, drink, and food, where everyone can have a blast without having to  do the typical "wedding" stuff. Please feel free to bring a guest to the show, just let us know how many people will be coming (by May 6th, please); the more the merrier!

Info on the venue:
The Wind Up Space is one of our favorite Baltimore hangouts; it's actually where we met. Located in the Station North Arts District, it's owned by Micah’s good friend and Baltimore's best bartender, Russell De Ocampo. It is a great space featuring awesome live music and amazing art. We have rented the place out for the night and it's gonna be freaking great! Please remember to bring the ticket attached to the event information. The person working the door will also have a list of guests but having a ticket will expedite the process. Check out the website:http://www.thewindupspace.com/index.html

Info on the bands:
The show will begin with the Bellevederes, a spectacular soul revue. This band is near and dear to our hearts, featuring the groom himself on trombone. http://www.thebellevederes.com/
Among Wolves is next, one of Baltimore's most awesome Indie bands, and good friends of ours. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Among-Wolves/220063205668
Jook is making their comeback especially for the Big Fat Wedding Show. They are going to rock the house as our headliners. http://www.myspace.com/jooktheband
There will be a DJ spinning beats when the bands are finished. So the music will go all night!

Info on the food/ drink:
The show starts at 8, so we are assuming you will have already eaten dinner at one of the hundreds of amazing restaurants in the area, http://weekly.citypaper.com/Restaurants.  We are supplying complimentary beer, wine, and margaritas during the show. A cash bar will be available if you are so inclined. There will be a champagne toast and tasty, tasty cupcakes made by Ali's good friend, Sarah Milliman, http://www.thesweetestthingcakesbysarah.webs.com/.  After a night of drinking and dancing, what do you want more than pizza? And what pizza could be better than Baltimore icon, Matthew's Pizza? For those of you coming from out of town, we are so excited to share with you the quintessential Baltimore pizza that is Matthew's. http://www.matthewspizza.com/

Info on the hotel:
The Mount Vernon hotel is located in the beautiful neighborhood of, you guessed it, Mount Vernon. It is walking distance to numerous amazing restaurants, the Walters art gallery, the Peabody conservatory, the Washington monument, and many small shops/ boutiques. It is also located off of Charles St, a major Baltimore thoroughfare where you can catch the Charm City Circulatory that can take you downtown to the inner harbor or uptown to Penn Station, http://www.charmcitycirculator.com/. The Mount Vernon hotel is a historic building and offers free breakfast, complementary of the Baltimore International College. They have reserved a block of rooms at a special rate for our guests. Please reference the Brown/ Huerta wedding. (410)727-2000. http://www.mountvernonbaltimore.com/

Info on Baltimore:
Charm City is a wonderful town full of history, music, art, food, and entertainment. http://baltimore.org/. It is also home to the show "the Wire," in fact, the scene in which Omar shoots Brother Mouzone was filmed at the “charming” North Avenue Motel, just a few doors down from The Wind Up Space. While this is a fictional show, please do exercise caution when navigating the city. When planning your travel to and from the show, please consider this: There is no parking lot and there is limited street parking in the surrounding areas. The best idea for most people, especially those who are unfamiliar with the area, will be taxi cabs. There are many cab companies that you can use. We recommend calling the company approx 15 to 20 min before you will need to be picked up. Here are are a few companies in the area:
Baltimore cab: (410) 327-7777
Yellow cab: (410) 685-1212

For those of you traveling a little too far to cab all the way, another good idea would be to park at Penn Station. They have a 24 hr parking lot, they are just blocks away from the venue, and there are cabs lined up on the street at all hours. The cab ride will take 2 min and be very cheap. This also gives you the opportunity to check out the giant “man/woman” statue in front of Penn Station...
